Lake Iris

This large, circular lake got its name because of its distinct eye-shape. In the middle, there is a small island, like the pupil of the eye. A forest surrounds the eye, with a density similar to eyelashes. This area has a very tropical climate, complete with vegetation and jungle-like animals. Where the sand and water meet, there is a sharp five-foot drop, then the water becomes shallow again. Legend says that there are strange beasts that live in that drop off, like guardians of the island. These creatures, mermaids, sirens if you will, call out to the weaker-minded, coaxing them to swim down into the depths of the drop off. From above the water, these horse-like beasts look appealing to the eye, but they are truly ugly creatures. Beware of their deceiving beauty, or you may pay the price.
